I started Carp fishing around 30 years ago at the ripe old age of 12 I knew then that I had found a side of fishing that fascinated me. Back then 'doubles' were big fish, '20s' were monsters and don’t even go there with '30s' and '40s'.

I still get a real buzz from going carp fishing, even after 30 years, there is nothing like it,I tend to like waters as quite as possible and am lucky enough to be able to fish mid week which is great. I don't target single big fish any more, there are to many anglers doing it,but if I can fish with a chance of a 30 I'm happy. I do some teaching,on the bank and at shuttleworth college in the fisheries management course, its just like going to school but its all about carp fishing, how cool is that!. I fish where ever I am in the world, given the chance, but the best place has got to be the Florida Key's,just an amazing place to angle.

"Every day's a school day,in carp fishing, you just keep learning."

Favourite Bait:

TYPE OF BAIT: XLR8 and Tutti
WHY YOUR FAVORITE: A bag of Richworth Tutti's were the first boilies I ever bought in the early 1980's and I have had some in my fishing kit ever since. XLR8 has caught me so many fish over the past couple of years,It is the best bait I have seen in years.
HOW TO USE BAIT: I tend to feed as many mixed sizes as I can and it really does give you an edge,XLR8 in 10,14 and 18mm and then a 14mm topped with a 10mm on the hair. For winter single Tutti Pop-ups,Job done

Equipment List:
RODS: Free Spirit Hi-S
REELS: Shimano Power Aero's
BAITS: It will have to be XLR8
ACCESSORIES: Stove and lots of Tea
Latest Purchases:

Primus Power Lighter

Favourites:

SET UP : Withy Pool Rig and Tutti Pop-Up
PLACE TO FISH : Anywhere, just love being on the bank
SWIM: RH Front at Withy, what a swim!

Did you Know:

Back in the late 80's I gave Steve Renyard a bent long shanked Fly hook that Rob Maylin had showed me.Steve took that and Developed the Withy Pool Rig, the rest is history.

Fishing Highlights:

Catching my first UK 40 in 1990 and a Brace of 37lb and 39lb in a couple of hours fishing, every trip is another Highlight to look forward to.

Pete Wilson Top Tips:
