Steve would consider himself a specimen hunter really. Only fishing for carp of 25 plus or that’s the theory. He was a member of the famous withy syndicate in 1988. This is where Steve gained much of his knowledge fishing with Kevin Maddocks, Rob Maylin and many big names. Steve has a hunger for rigs and follows carp behaviour intensely. He has been with Richworth for seven years. Finally he like you, he only fishes weekends and holidays.

TYPE OF BAIT: Multipex. K-G 1 and Crab & Mussel
WHY YOUR FAVORITE: The criteria of a big carp bait for me is as follows : dull in colour. Low flavour levels. All year round highly digestable base mix. All those above are exactly that . I have caught many big carp and my pbs on these three alone.
HOW TO USE BAIT: Try to scatter boilies where possible.this creates bigger hits,searching for food increases enthusiam for feeding by carp. Try using stringers as much as you can, even close range fishing. This helps your hookbait come under less scrutiny.

1996 i caught the uks first 60 plus freshwater fish. A 61 lb catfish from withy pool. I caught three quarters ton of carp on my first foriegn trip. Also caught six 30s in a weekend session
